Can I upgrade parts of my bose headphones?

I own a set of the Bose On-ear headphones. I recently damaged the wire connecting the headphone unit to my ipod. I was wondering if my wire (or any other part of the headphone), can be upgraded. Such as a better quality wire or better cushioning ear pads. In regards to the wire, does it matter if it isnt gold plated, what kind of wire should i buy and wire.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Great choice in headphones. Great choice in Audio anything.

About the ear pads, don’t mess with them. On any headphones. It’s just an ugly, messy thing. What you got is what you got.

Bout the cable? The brand “Mugammi” is the best audio cable going. Been trying to talk Bose into that for years. It is a little more expensive than most, but darn well worth it.

On a headphone run of what, 12 feet max, it may cost another dollar. What the heck.

About the ‘Gold’ thing. Yes, gold is a better conductor than most anything, but for practical purposes I’ll submit this. You can measure the difference in a Laboratory, but I’ve never seen anyone who could ‘hear’ the difference. It’s a great marketing tool. How bout ‘Sex Appeal’ tooth paste? You either got it, or you don’t. You either hear it, or you don’t.

Oh, the Mugammi cable….You can hear it!
