How to tell if Bose headphones are fake?

Hi, I recently bought a pair of used Bose QC2 and want to know if it’s possible there are any fakes being manufactured and how I can distinguish between fake and real QC2′s.
They sound great, paid 100 for them on ebay. But what threw me was the noise cancelling function isnt as noise cancelling as I expected them to be given the review… Was just wondering whether I’ve been screwed over or not :S

See if you can find a serial number on them, try to look at the actual speaker and see what it say. Look at the wire, is it thin? is the tip gold? silver? take a picture and compare it to the one you find on internet. Send the serial number to bose to see if its fake or not… Email can do some magic, it might take a week or two or more for them to respond, but they will. Where did you buy it and how much did you pay for it. Do they sound better then other headsets u have?

If you can take them to somewhere that sells Bose, they can check. But how much were they? Bose are very expensive. And is the sound quality good?
